The Dordogne valley offers you a classic French landscape of green farmland and oak lined valleys contoured by a tranquil, winding river and checkered with red-roofed fortified towns. Visit the crème de la crème of Dordogne’s cultural and scenic drawcards: Tour storybook castles and villages built directly in limestone cliffs; explore the towns of Domme, medieval Sarlat and Rocamadour, considered one of the most beautiful villages of all of France. Some of Dordogne’s historic riches reach even farther back in time than the Middle Ages. The spectacular cave drawings of Lascaux point to distant ancestors whose mysteries are buried 20,000 years in the past.

Day 1:

Arrive in the afternoon.
You’ll be greeted in your room by a bouquet of freshly cut flowers and local delicacies.
Relax by the pool or for a swim, tennis or walk through the castle’s 300 acres of woodland.
Walnut wine aperitif with tidbits.
Dinner menu with choice in each course including a bottle of Château Chambert (Cahors red wine), ½ bottle of mineral water, hot beverages (tea, coffee, herbal tea).
Breakfast either in your room, in the green parlor or on the terrace across from the French garden.
Unguided tour of the typical Quercy villages of Martel (known as the “City of the Seven Towers”), Carennac (labeled “One of France’s Prettiest”) and Gluges.
Guided tour of the famous Lacave caves.

Day 2:

Return to La Treyne and relax by the pool.
Champagne aperitif with tidbits.
Dinner with gourmet menu (1 glass of Montbazillac, 1 bottle of Cahors Château de Rigalets, ½ bottle of mineral water, hot beverages (tea, coffee, herbal tea).
Breakfast either in your room, in the green parlor or on the terrace across from the French garden.
Unguided tour of Souillac, a pretty little town wedged between Black Perigord and Quercy.
Guided tour of the Plum Brandy Museum.
Guided tour of the remarkable chateau des Milandes, one-time home of music hall star Josephine Baker.
