Located on the first floor with an exceptional view overlooking the Dordogne river, its large room is south-facing surmounted by magnificent Gothic woodwork that adorns all the ceiling. Period furniture Louis XIV and its large white bathroom turn gold every evening from the rays of the setting sun.
Its dressing room and ensuite suite has an extra bed for one person. The room is also equipped with the best equipment: electrical shutters to ensure acoustic comfort while preserving the aesthetics of the mullioned windows (classified historical heritage), electrically operated curtains, 3 way air conditioning to ensure the exact desired temperature and electric under floor heating in the bathroom.
The bath and shower noth have Bernardaud porcelain fittings. There are 2 televisions and a stereo.

It was on the famous bridge in Avignon that on January 27th 1356, Guillaume de Roffilhac promised to honour Guillaume de Beaufort, Viscount of Turenne, by building a castle on the banks of the Dordogne. Treyne belonged to the Viscount of Turenne until 1540.

Comrade in arms with Pierre de la Ramière, Lord of La Treyne, Henry of Navarre stayed here before he was crowned King Henry IV, first of theBourbon dynasty.
During the second world war, La Treyne welcomed, to protect them, some master pieces from the Louvre Museum, among which the famous “Scribe accroupi”of the department of Egyptian Antiquities. In memory of that time we named this room Scribe.

I knew from their website and photos that this would be a magical place to stay, but my imagination fell short when it came to our actual experience. Given the opulence of the Chateau and its surrounding beautiful grounds and gardens, it could have felt a little daunting, but from the moment you enter, you feel so taken care of, that it almost feels like home. I don’t think I’ve been treated as well at any hotel or resort; the service on every level was outstanding. You simply never wanted for anything. Their genuine hospitality, their exuberance and pride in their work showed in their utmost care for the smallest of details. And if you really want to treat yourself, dine at their fabulous restaurant as often as you can! Superbe! Merci beaucoup! stayed at this place, for which my wife and I fell in love immediately, we were totally enchanted by its history and tradition, so entangled eith the history of France itself. But, it is not only the place, but the team, under the tender care of Madame Gombert, that make it magic. Since the moment we left I was determined to be back and enjoy it even more.
Now, after the pandemic, we were able to come back, across the ocean from Brasil, spend a whole weekend, and still have the time of our lives in one of the best places I have ever been. Everything in shape and still exactly how I remember. Imagine also that you can enjoy Monsieur Stephane Andrieux cuisine, Michelin Guide starred, at your pleasure in the evenings at dinner or in the breakfast!
